Flat Tires, Slow Leaks, and Online Marketing
Do you believe that your business is slowly leaking, or do you think it could be an all-out flat? This may seem like a totally ridiculous question, yet it is a good thing to figure out. It would be more acceptable to have an all-out flat, rather then a very slow leak that you may not even be aware of. This same theory applies to the Internet marketing business as well. Knowing you have a problem with what you are doing, or the marketing strategy you are using, is far different than the slow and painful collapse of your business without you even knowing.
The worst part about a slow leak is you never see it coming, unlike a pure flat. The flat will just shut you down with problems, where the slow leak will kill you gradually. Which is better? Well, there is no answer to that, as you do not want the business in jeopardy to begin with. Sometimes however, it happens and in this business it can come with out warning. If you are fortunate enough to figure out that you have a problem, this does not mean it can be fixed readily. Many times it is not the business itself that has the flat or leak, rather just your web page. This is a situation that can be fixed, and it is not going to break the bank either. There are webmasters everywhere, if you get in a bind, and you know that it is going to hurt the business then you can incorporate the services of a hired gun for the short-term.
Many times, these so-called hired guns can be found in many web site forums, they can be had for relatively cheap. This is, however, a large gamble, you never know what you are getting when you rent out help. Not to mention you really do not know if this gun is going to cause more damage in the process. One can say they are great, yet if you do not know them, and have never seen their work, why in the world would you trust them with your business. It is always good to have a webmaster on hand when you need one, finding a trustworthy partner is the key to a successful endeavor. Sometimes this may cost a little more, yet you will have the peace of mind in knowing that things are done right. This will be an asset to your company, and should not be taken lightly. Sometimes there is really good 24/7 support for one’s ISP or web server. This is another option rather than going the hired gun route.
This is a business you have invested time and money into, why would you even chance this with a rookie wanting to get his feet wet? This would be great for them, an in the process could completely ruin your business. This is the very reason why ISP or web servers strongly advocate you use of a good webmaster. It may be in your better interest for you to take some basic web classes. This could save time in you searching for a rent-a-gun, or waiting for your trusted partner to wake up or get home. Either way you are the business in peril. It is best, when you get into this business to learn as much as you possibly can. This in turn saves time and much trouble. There are online classes for this sort of thing, or there are many community colleges that offer this set of classes. If your partner is willing to relinquish the tools of his trade, then they may at least help you get buy in a pinch.
It is understandable however, if they are reluctant as this will definitely eat into their profits as well. The solution is simple, what you need to do is to set up a chain of support for your company. This is a sure fire way to ensure that things run smoothly. It would be in the best interest of the company to have a back up plan or at least a chain of repair mechanisms.
